Hello again folks. If you are reading this, know that you are one of the first to be a part of something big. Yep. We are adding a little more variety to Awaken Living and starting Take Out Thursday. There are so many incredible restaurants with a wide range and variety of food in the St. Petersburg and the surrounding areas. So, why not tell you about it. I’m a big believer of supporting local businesses and passing on the love to you.
Casita Taqueria. It is the perfect restaurant to start with. I had the chance to visit this authentic mexican restaurant with some of my local photograph friends this past Saturday. What do you recommend I asked my new found friend Max who also happens to be Mexican. Everything is good here she said and then at last the casita bowl was decided on and let me tell you it did not disappoint.
Before I continue describing the resturant and food though, let me preface by saying that todays pictures are courtesy of various users at yelp.com . If you haven’t tried out yelp yet, you should. Its a great resource to find what you need, when you need it where you are. As a newbie to the St. Petersburg area, I use yelp seriously on a daily basis to discover places that I wouldn’t find otherwise.
I can’t make claims this time to have tried a variety of food. But the casita bowl, it was enough for me and it was perfect. I was wondering after the first few bites- can you possibly get any more flavors in one bowl? Avocados, cilantro, chicken (my meat of choice), tomatoes, rice, onions, sour cream and beans. The quality of the ingredients were fresh and flavorful. It was as if the chef put individualized attention on each and every ingredient. It also came with a side of hot fresh round flat tortillas. I wrapped the all the deliciousness that came in the bowl in the fresh tortillas and ate it like a taco.
Speaking of the taco, my new found friend had them and let me tell you it looked just as good as my casita bowl. I heard that they’re known for their tacos, he said and they are delicious! They offer every variety of meat that you can desire, beef, chicken, steak, sausage and fish. Is your mouth watering yet?
Beyond the casita bowl and tacos there is a wide variety of authentic Mexican foods available. It seems like they have specials of things that aren’t necessarily on the menu like savory soups and sweet cinnamon churros.
The restaurant has nice picnic bench seating outside and tables in chairs in the inside. You place your order with your name and within a short period of time you’ll have your food delivered to you. I had a chance to speak with several staff members, cause I’m a people person and thats just what I do and they seemed genuinely happy and enjoying their job. I also was impressed that the restaurant offers a children’s reading time each month. This is something that my sweet pea and I plan on doing in the future.
If you live or ever are visiting the St. Petersburg area I would highly you trying out Casita Taqueria. And when you are taking your first bit of a casita bowl or terrific taco look around and you might just see me.
